JUST A THOUGHT.... What if you, your family, and all your neighbors knew First-Aid, CPR (Cardio-Pulminary Resuscitaion), and how to use an AED (Automated External Defribillator)? -- The life you save may just be that of a family member,
a friend or neighbor--or maybe even your own!

Studies of behavior following disasters have shown that groups working together in the disaster period perform more effectively if there has been prior planning for disaster response. Organized grassroots efforts may be more successful if they are woven into the social and political fabric of the community/ neighborhood associations, clubs, schools, workplaces, places of worship, businesses, and other existing organizations. Effective response therefore requires comprehensive planning and coordination of all who will be involved - government, volunteer groups, private businesses, schools, and community organizations. With training and information, individuals and community groups can be prepared to serve as a crucial resource capable of performing many of the emergency functions needed in the immediate post-disaster period.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program is designed to help communities prepare for effective disaster response through training and planning. The local Payson area CERT, Sponsored by the Payson Fire Dept., will be providing training for citizens free of charge at the fire station on Main Street starting Feb. 10, 6:00p - 9:00p, and will be continuing for the next 7 Tuesday nights through Mar. 31. This is an 8-Module course. It is not necessary to attend all eight sessions, but all eight will be required to attain the certificate. Students can make up missed sessions in future training cycles.
The training that CERT members receive further enhances community preparedness, and through awareness, it potentially mitigates damage caused
as a result of disasters. (Ounces of prevention are worth pounds of cure).
